Refusing to stop interest

Hi, just been informed by 'old friends' that despite promising to review account after 3 clear months they will not stop interest unless I increase pro rata payments to them by £25.00 a month. I have been told that I have acted irresponsibly with my account, they demanded to know what I had spent the money on etc etc. Despite the fact I have been off work for a few months I am still paying them an amount I agreed too - will have to review financial statement now even though all other creditors have frozen interest and not acted irresponsibly ( if the label fits). Anyway as the interest is almost £200 a month I have asked the CC compnay to take me to court - instead they have passed me onto DCA (not from India I hope) have had all the grief from them previously. Should I refuse to pay pro rata payments as the account is now in dispute - or is it?:confused:

continue to pay pro rata payments as if taken to court you can demonstrate that you are acting fairly to all creditors and paying as much as you can.

I don't really understand why you say the a/c is in dispute... being passed to DCA is normal in this situation and you may find your other creditors will pass the debts to DCAs.
  • I ended up with a DCA for one of my CC and have to say they have been very reaqsonable and made little fuss when payments were reduced by CAB. As long as pay them the allocated amount each month they seem happy and if have to delay payment for a few days are very reasonable.
Orignal debt £31k 2005; reduced to just under £27k Sept 2008 New debt: Capital One Card £1000; mortgage arrears £1,252

Proud to be dealing with my debts!
