Hi all, i have my cash savings ready to buy an MPV.
I intend to buy a citroen c8 or 807(essentailly the same model).
Any tips on how to get the most from my cash 16-17k????
should i wave 1k less than the screen price in cash under the main dealers nose?
or does anyone have any othwer more subtle approaches.
Thanks.

Those things depreciate faster than you can burn money - get one a year or two old for half that sort of money.0

I agree, however if you must have a new one, I've just had a quick look on the net and have found a few places offering a fair discount against RRP. No idea what current deals are available at main dealers though (Citroen and Pug are normally quite generous with discounts).
Just a quick example...

That compares to a list price of £19,500 or thereabouts according to their website.
If I were you, I'd find the model you want, check the internet to see what kind of price you can find elsewhere, and pop into a dealer to have a chat.
If you're serious, tell them that you are looking to do a deal on the day, and what's the best they can do? Approaching Xmas, you might be surprised with what they come back with. Just spend time with them seeing what they can offer (choose a quiet time and they'll love to talk with you), and once you've pushed them far enough, I reckon you could get a comparable (if not better) deal from your local dealer. As an aside, the little extras such as carpet mats are expensive for you to buy, but not so expensive to give away...
If you choose a time when no one else is on the car lot, the sales person will be bored to tears and love to talk to you.
Best of luck.0 -
i think you might find that most car dealers can't / won't accept that amount in cash0

When hubby and I were looking to buy a new car (Honda) we found the cheapest price on the internet and then telephoned our local dealer who were more than happy to match the price. Hope this helps.0 -
also, this was pointed out to me a few days ago by somebody, if you go in ata certian oint ie like when they are about to get new models, or reg in they also take a large discount off,he had 25% knocked off the price because his car was under the older plate but still brand new, hopefully somebody may know more about it xsus x0
