C&g Error?!?!!?

Just a bit of a moan and a wonder really.......

I'm a first time buyer who is now in the 3rd week of living in her new home with the man of my dreams and whose mortgage is with the C&G.

My moan is with the C&G; basically they rejected our first mortgage application as they said I had a default for £40 with a company called Tiny. This was news to me and to cut a long story short to get the deal we were after we had to take the loan out over 19yrs as apposed to 25 and have a guarantor. After finding out about this default I applied for my credit report through experian as I was told that this was who they carried out their searches through but I did not receive it until everything was signed sealed and delivered. Anyhows once it arrived there was no sign of any defaults what so ever!!! Very miffed at this and can only assume that as they were very busy they mixed me up with someone else!?!?!

We have now received from the C&G a customer satisfaction survey to complete and send back so shall I send it back with a letter of complaint and a copy of my report?!?!?!

Any advice or words of wisdom!?!?

Dont be quick to blame C&G.

I use Experian for money laundering checks and recently had a failure with the lowest score ever. It was telling me to report it as money laundering suspicion. I queried it with Experian twice and didnt really get a decent response. The client queried it and got their file and there was nothing there. Experian also told a lie to the client to try and pass it off as my fault. Upon further pressure, Experian used the data that I had input (using their record of what had been typed in) and got a valid "pass" score. They could not recreate the low score.

We never really got an answer but our view was that something incorrect was on the file and before experian sent the info out, they saw it (perhaps a pre-vet) and removed it.

C&G made a decision based on the information that was supplied by Experian. Your complaint should really be aimed at them.
