could i get this cheaper then buying it from the carpet showroom, what a luxery one

Hi yes you can buy a lot cheaper on the internet, just put in underlay and there it is. I am a retired carpet fitter and i must say the prices charged for underlay by the big named shops is way out of order. When buying underlay go for the best you can afford if it is for the lounge or HSL, the bedrooms dont matter so much.

We were astonished at the price differences. You might get a bit confused at the different underlays though, it is a good idea to find which one you want then google that.

As a note, we are currently looking for a new carpet, and we were told by showrooms that if we buy our own underlay we would have to lay it ourselves, it would not be included in the carpet laying price. They make a fortune on underlay!

Do you know which carpet you want? We found the carpet we wanted at between £19.99 and £14.22 in showrooms. First price you have to add on £3.50 per sq mtr fitting, second price not sure. Have been online and a local company do THE SAME carpet for £11.50, £2.50 sq mtr fitting, and underlay at around £3, will be inviting them round to measure up when they are back off holiday!
