Halifax Mortgage - Experiences Please

Hey there, without going into too much detail we're buying a house on the 80/20 deal and have had a mortgage in principal with halifax but then they have requested things like passport and bank statements to id my partner (he has had several addresses over the past few yrs and not registered on electrol role) and finally after me constantly pestering we had the nodd to say they have everything they need from us (inc proof of deposit) and will be back with a decision in 5 working days then they will do the valuation and come back with an offer all being well.
We exchange on 4th july and complete end of sept so i have to get legal stuff done too like the searches but dont want to do this until i know we have an offer as as first time buyers we cant lose anything.
so can anyone advise of their experiences please as in how long did it take you to get an offer from the Halifax?
