Training to be a nurse help

    You'd also need to consider the area of nursing she was looking at.

    Think someone else said it but she would need to decide which branch of nursing - adult, mental health, childrens or learning disability. She would have to go to a university for the nurse training course itself and would have to do both academic work and placements.

    Which branch she chose would influence the type of placement and academic work that she did.

    There are a few routes in - 5 GCSE's at C grade and above, usually with some care experience and evidence of recent study. Or the A level route for which care experience might also be useful, or through an access course at a college.

    It's changed a bit since I did my stint in the profession in the late 80's! Five O levels and you were in, straight to the school of nursing of your choice, out on the wards within 6 weeks.
