Acupuncture and giving up smoking

I'm wondering if anyone can help. My husband has expressed an interest in giving up smoking using acupuncture. I vaugely remember reading/hearing somewhere that acupuncture doesn't produce very good results (although it could have been hypnosis). I am really pleased he has said he wanted to give up, but don't want him spending money on something that isn't going to work.

Does anyone have any advice or experience of having this done.

The effects of acupuncture on smoking cessation are not fully elucidated. Prompt smoking cessation or gradual reduction strategies have similar success rates.

In addition, the reduction in cigarette consumption was not significant, but the tendency of reduction in the study group was significant. It is believed that the site of auricular acupuncture for smoking cessation is not important. However, there was a significant tendency in terms of the reduction in cigarette consumption, the taste of tobacco and the intensity of the desire to smoke in the case group, indicating that auricular acupuncture in smoking cessation has some effect.

There is no consistent evidence that acupuncture, acupressure, laser therapy or electrostimulation are effective for smoking cessation,
Hypnotherapy
The rates of point prevalence smoking cessation, as confirmed by carbon-monoxide measurements for the intensive hypnotherapy group, was 40% at the end of treatment; 60% at 12 weeks, and 40% at 26 weeks

Results of a meta-analysis showed that males were more likely to report smoking abstinence than female participants following hypnosis-based treatments for smoking.

It's easier to find research supporting hypnosis than for acupuncture.
Never been hypnotised so don't know. Had acupunture once and fainted immediately end of acupuncture session. Don't know why I fainted, I'm usually fine with needles etc. Didn't get my money back either.
