Help!! Marshall ward charges..

Hi can anyone offer advise please?

I purchased goods to the value of £497.50 last year on a buy now pay may offer, well the minimum payment was due the 20th may. I paid the full amount of £497.50 on the due date so they are now charging me £12.00 late fee plus.... £182.00 which is the interest charge because it was paid late!!!!!

What can i do? dont want to pay these charges cant believe it, choice is part of the same group and i,ve had that catalogue for about 12 years... also got another order due for payment november which again i will pay in full!!

Regards Maxine

What date did you send the money?

    How did you send it?

When did they say they received it?

You can only rely on their goodwill to cancel any interest. Don't expect to succeed in obtaining it.

It sounds like they needed to receive cleared payment by that date - companies usually require a couple of days when paying by card, or 7 days when paying by cheque.

From their help pages "Please allow 7 working days for payments made by post, and 4 working days for payments made by all other methods"

If you made the payment on the payment due date it wouldn't clear until a few days later, hence being a late payment.

Have you contacted them to discuss this?

I hope you have realised you simply cannot leave it until the last day to make payment.

As a customer of 12yrs you may be in a good position to receive a sympathetic ear but of course, this is the finance company you are dealing with, not the retail arm. They absolutely prey and make their business from people not paying on the due date.

20/5 and they recived it on the 23/5 makes your payment late

You need to make sure your payment gets to them in time not pay on the day but as apples2 says give them a phone and see if they will let you off this time good luck

Doubt you'll have much luck with that one but I can't hurt to try, make sure any communication is sent recorded and don't rely on meale mouthed telephone operators.
