Would give anything to be back in permanent employment and getting paid on time. The constant stress of chasing payments and wondering whether I will have money or not is really awful

Instead of playing at self employment, why not just do the job properly?

So I signed up with Parasol and lo and behold they have failed to pay me on my first pay day! Was supposed to be yesterday! Aaarrrrgghhh!!!!

I was with Parasol for 6 months previously without a hitch and cant believe this has happened after the springboard fiasco!

If you were paying for the express service with Springboard are you sure payday should have been yesterday?
I've been with Paystream for a few years now and had the occasional problem, some theirs and some not theirs, but they pay when they get paid. 'Usually' the agencies will pay the invoice on a Wednesday and the money hits the agency on a Thursday / Friday but i have had one where the money didn't hit Paystream till the Monday, which resulted in me getting paid later than expected.... Although it was nice when i swapped contracts as i got paid on Monday and then Friday.

I know...but for some reason it is the one word I have difficulty with. I know how to use an apostrophe correctly so can I be let off? ;):D:D

I would rank correct use of apostrophes above spelling, so yes, alright. ;)

It just makes me laugh - it sounds like 'funeral' - but maybe that's apt.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
  • Yes Springboard fast service should go in on Fridays (did 90% of the time) and Parasols should also and it didn't.

I don't really understand what you are asking?
Part time temporary hours are all that is on offer at the moment.

I'm always cautious with first payments; i started a contract on the 27th May but didn't put my timesheet through till last Friday, along with that weeks. The payslip is usually published on the portal on the Thursday and i get the text and emails to confirm (and payment) on the Friday. I got nothing on Thursday but yesterday i only got a payslip and text for the 27th and nothing for the week ending the 3rd, yet Paystream sent the invoices 2 minutes apart.... So sometimes it's the agency that delay everything rather than the Umbrella company.
Although if Springboard's fast service paid you on a Friday it sounds like they agency aren't paying in time for Friday to be a normal service. If you speak to Parasol they'll probably tell you they hadn't received the money from the agency in time.

I made a suggestion to Paystream a couple of months ago and they're actually implementing it. Soon you'll be able to submit the time sheets online and it'll give real time updates; time sheet submitted > accepted > invoice sent to agency > agency paid > payslip produced... etc

i'm guessing he meant going down the limited company route rather than using umbrella companies.

You've obviously not been unemployed in the current market trying desperately to find a job. Permanent jobs are thin on the ground, and frequently temp or contracting opportunities is all that's there. Companies don't want to commit to another body in the headcount, but still need the work to be done.

Please stop playing at being self-righteous, it really is disrespectful.

Its certainly tough out there at the moment. I had been unemployed for 18 months prior to taking this job. Went from £300 per day to the dole queue! Couldn't believe it.

Took this current job for my sanity. Was supposed to only be 3 months but its now been 8. Just cant really survive on it so its really frustrating when I get paid late and incur various charges!

Had to move in with the ex gf to relieve some financial pressure! Not an ideal situation at all. Hopefully something better will come along soon!
