Muscle bath soak

Hi all,

Having a nice soak is my big guilty pleasure. I do a lot of sport so love a hot soak for the aches and pains. I also love expensive smells i.e philosophy, space nk, cowshed etc Recently I tried burt bees muscle soak and whilst very I begrudge paying through the nose for salt, baking powder and essential oils.

I figured there was a more mse way to go ;) I considered buying all the separate bits but figured that might be more costly if I don't like it and possibly a bit faffy!

Today I did my plan B. I bought a cheap glass jar from asda. Bought radox bath salts (rock salt, bi carb and smelly bits) and then bought some Epsom salts to add to it (Epsom salts are great for sore muscles). total cost excluding jar was £1.86 and it will do 5/6 baths.

My question to other mse's is do you have any other good bath recipes?

Thanks, how do epsom salts feel on the skin after a bath? are they drying? Used alone I imagine they would have no scent at all. What about fizzz?
A long soak is my guilty pleasure too!

I think my skin feels softer afterwards (though I'd say I was quite oily skinned) - I was advised to make sure I get plenty of water when using Epsom salts because it can be generally dehydrating, and not to make the water too hot ..I guess I use a good half a cup unless I'm really sore when I'll use up to a cup.

Epsom salts when I used them alone made my skin ok but they don't smell or anything. You do have to be careful about hydration as they are used by fighters etc in a hot bath when there trying to cut weight. But remember it's water you lose not fat lol! X

I use radox bath salts in the box.
really good for aches etc, really relaxing!
Always sends me to sleep too.
  • Ok update on my progress. My current recipe is:-

    1 Cup Epsom Salts
    1/4 Cup Sea Salt
    1/4 Cup Bicarb of Soda
Tea Tree Oil (cleansing and antibacterial properties)
Lavender Oil (relaxing and good for muscles)

I add the oil to preference (so it smells nice). Its working as well as a radox. Is slightly cheaper and has less chemicals! I am also now add eucalyptus oil to certain batches for when I have cold!
