I work for Coral if your questions are about the job itself or the industry if that's any help to you?
Our assistant manager transferred from Betfred a few months back because she hated the conditions. Apparently they're not the best of employers although I have no direct experience of this.
(I'm not just trying to badmouth a competitor here it makes no difference to me!)

Go on to the gambling section and ask what they think of him !:rotfl:"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

ok, some one has mentioned that betfreds only have 25 hour contracts, over time is available, but obviously holidays would be paid at 25 hours
do they have contract cleaners
tote were paid more p/h but some one mentioned that fred put his staffs wages up to the same as ours
is there still a suppliment for an accredition 3 (maybe different in corals) cashire when they manage, tote did away with deputy managers
they do not pay sick pay, or do they
what are the working conditions really like, people say they are bad, but in what way0 -
Well our assistant manager worked there for a couple of years before she came to us. She says that the area and regional management were extremely overbearing (obviously this may not be true elsewhere in the country) and not very supportive of any problems or issues that arose in the shop. Things like banking were meant to be done during your break and therefore not paid for. Lone-person working late at night was rife. And the pay was less than at Coral for the same job.
Admittedly this could just be in our area but I'm not sure.:cool:0 -

hmmmm, well i for one will not be banking in my break, and i will not be lone working at night
i think im lucky (in a strange way) that i will be covered under the DDA
we do have some one man shops, doesnt every bookies, but i disagree with working alone any where in the evening, my shop is classed as high risk so hope fully that will not happen
im in manchester, what region are you?
i have concidered corals in the past, i know a few people that have worked for them and still do
my other concern is that there going to break up shop teams, imo its the staff that make the shop, some of our customers hate new faces, you know how it is
apparently things should be finalised in 2 months and then we will know where we (tote) stand, my manager has already said that if they start making changes to our hours she will have to leave as she will not be able to support her self, i have suggested we rent the building from the LL our self and open our own bookies..lol
the only other thing is a rumour that he will sell some of the shops off, maybe to paddy power, i think i would prefere that
oh and they open earlier and shut later than we do especially on a sunday0 -
I'm in South Wales. Admittedly LPW isn't company policy but they turn a blind eye to it as long as the shops hit their allocated hours.
As for breaking up of shop teams then you'll just have to see what happens, although I don't think they'll generally move established teams out of shops unless there is a major issue.:cool:0 -

i though that about teams but we will have to be trained on their system as it is different to ours0 -
