How many drinks per person?

I was hoping to get all my booze throughout the year, starting 6 months prior, as and when various bargains crop up. So I can't really take advantage of any 'buy back' offers. (Like at the moment MrD's favourite drink is under a pound a bottle - if our wedding was closer I'd be stocking up).
I have calculated that for our 50 guests to get the alcohol above and the soft drinks it'd cost us nearly £450. Gulp!! Thank god I'm doing the buffet myself too! But whatever doesn't get drunk on the night would get used up/drank another time. (MrD can drink all the beer/larger - I'd use all the wine in meals/use as gifts for people not present at the wedding lol). But that doesn't mean I'd be too happy having 50 bottles of wine extra (exaggerated for effect lol).0 -
You could always buy half to 3/4 of the drinks in the sale, and get the rest in the buy back scheme. That is what we are planning on doing. Just fear running out!:T0

We were chatting about this last night and I think we'll do something very similar. We'll probably stockpile the stuff that we would either drink ourselves (i.e. our favourites) or could give away as thank you/Xmas gifts afterwards. Our only problem is storage (we live on a narrowboat!) so we can't take advantage of all the deals. I think sale or return/buy back will save me a few sleepless nights :beer:0 -
Do you know anyone with a cash and carry card that would allow you to buy soft drinks in bulk it might save you a few pounds:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Hiya,
I got married at the end of April, we had 90 day guests and an extra 50 evening guests and free booze.
We got through 10L of sloe gin in 30 mins as the welcome drink (mixed with bitter lemon-went down a storm!!), 2 1/2 barrels of beer (72 pints in a barrel) 30 bottles of rose wine, 25 bottles of white and 25 bottles of red. Also 20 bottles of champagne.
Because it was a marquee in my folks garden, we didn't have a bar as such, just trestle tables set up with all the booze on for guests to help themselves. To keep the costs down, we bought the wine in boxes (luckily DH had to go to South of France for work so picked it up when he was over there!) and bought swing top bottles, bought personalised labels from t'internet which had printed at the bottom of them "please refill me when empty" and put 3 on each table (white/rose/red). It worked really well.
