Halfords bikes & remote control car question

Options
Just when you think it's all going well, my 5 year old son has come out in chickenpox.
I've most the small presents, but still not got my 3 kids main presents. So internet is my only option.
I need a bike for my 7yr old girl & have been looking at the apollo bikes at Halfords, can anyone recommend these. They do say 8+ but hoping it will be suitable (I do not want another Toys'R'Us bike so please don't mention their deals.) Or anywhere else I can get a good one on the net.

I also need a remote control car for my 5yr old, looking at spending no more than £100 on it.
I still don't know what to get my 11 year old girl she wants everything, but already has what she's asking for. Any good bike deals though would be appreciated, she uses's mine, so small ladies bike good.

Luckily my food shoppings booked for next Friday, I'm going to be soooo behind I have Avon orders coming out of my ears & still got to carry on.
Really hoping he can go back on Monday as he is not even ill with it, just doing my head in.

Thanks soooooooo much in advance.

Thanks for the info, I've just done a search on sterlinghouse on here & very mixed views, which has put me off.
I really am tempted with Halfords deals, anyone had experience with these?
  • hi, i had an apollo bike it it last for over 10 years , i have now passed it on. i bought a half price bike at halfords its a MT 260 one, they had them in children sizes as well.
woolworth had some bikes on offer as well.

Bike for a 7 year old?

Try the dawes redtail. Nice Aluminium bike, no rubbish plastic parts. Well worth the extra money:

I'm told pink is out for 7 year olds, this one is nice purple.

As for a radio controlled car for a 5 year old, £100 is probably way over budget. At 5 they do a lot of "smashing" Check woolies for something nice look below the £50 mark, and save for something better when he's 7+ and wants to go racing. If he's hasn't already had a fastish RC then try and look for one with "fast" and "slow" speed settings, or he'll just get frustrated if it goes too fast to control.
  • How about some of these for your son?

I really wouldnt bother paying too much for one, my son has gone through loads so we just get him cheap ones now, and they seem to last longer weirdly enough, and its less gutting when the motor burns out or something.

Thanks everone, definitely going with a Halfords bike now.
iwanttosave, yes I too thought £100 was excessive, but I think my partner may have intended to play with it himself.
Going for a cheaper one now.

michellenealemum, he will be better by xmas, if mine had come down with it last wed's they'd be back at school now. Think 5 days after the last pox to appear has scabbed they can minger with friends.
I've been to Tesco's today with him, I cannot sit in the house all day. Halfords site says 7 working days for delivery, so he will have to come xmas shopping with me. My partner is on nights for the next 4 weeks so all down to me. I hate the myth about Santa anyway, kids should know what us parents have to do for the perfect Christmas. So if he lets the cat out the bag so be it.
