Santander killed my credit rating too

That's bureaucracy for you...and Spanish bureaucracy at that.

Well, the spiteful and senseless creatures who work for the little diablo will clap their hands in glee at having made yet another clients life miserable, that's the primary gain, really......
You could also go onto Watchdogs website and give the story - the current series has ended, but if the FOS is taking 6+ months, then you may as well spread it far and wide.
I agree its your responsibility to have had the funds there for the payment, but in the big scheme of things it was a very minor thing which you could have rectified the very next day and in fact attempted to do so, so really in worst case scenario should only have been marked as 1 late payment, not ended up with a nightmare due to Santander's chaotic mess.
Avoid them like the plague; I had an A & L loan which thank heavens ended two months after they took over.......I would never, ever use any of their pox y services however good the interest rates may appear. When things go wrong, they seem to relish the distress and drama they cause in people's lives.:mad:0 -
It appears it is not just me that believes that Santander are being unreasonable here. My IFA has offered to take this on and see if he gets further, perhaps getting the firms solicitor involved. Will let you all know if he gets any more luck that I did.0

Never Enough's descriptions of Santander is spot on and mirrors my own experiences. Spiteful and jobsworth sums it up.
Firebelly, best of luck with your battle. You don't seem the sort to be beaten by this obstinate outfit over a dispute that they have manufactured.
All my funds are happily moved elsewhere and they will never see my business again.:)0 -
Well it went to the Financial Ombudsman and I won. Credit report rectified and as a goodwill gesture Santander offerred £100. This I have rejected as I had to buy my lease car after being refused credit on a new contract hire. The FOS have asked that I put together my reciepts and lease agreements showing that Santander caused me to be refused credit on a new car causing me to buy my 3 year old Alfa Romeo and then pay for the maintenance costs, repairs etc. I reckon this has cost me over £10k so far. Do I have any reasonable expectation of compensation here?0

What's the breakdown of the £10k?0

What's the breakdown of the £10k?
Ok - true bottom line is around £2,200 being the difference between cost maintaining a second hand car and leasing a new car. Total spend is over £10k but of course you have an asset at the end of it all. Still I have not bought a second hand car for sometime now as they sting you badly with unexpected expense. A new car warranty is what I like.0
