I love my Wickes kitchen & it's still looking super after almost 3 years. My sister has just had a gorgeous Wickes kitchen fitted & she's over the moon with it plus she got a very good deal. We're both great fans of Wickes & very happy with the quality & price.

Wickes are brilliant at price matching. I've phoned Wickes a few times to place an order, found exactly same items on an alternative website, phone Wickes &they pricematch no problem. I've only ever done this on the phone, but have saved a mint!

Have independent wood panel in my lounge but have got to see wickes again! Did you get a good deal?

Think I'm going to have to see if can get them to pricematch.

Think this post is kinda pointing towards wickes.

Don't buy just on price. the indepedents are more likely to give you a much better service and the guy you deal with in the shop will no doubt come out to site during installation. Wickes subcontract all of their installation and you will have no idea who will be fitting it. These large organisations have communication problems and what is promised to you in store isn't what is realistically achievable on site. Your independent however will be aware of all the details of you project and liase with the fitters properly.

Wickes are better than most on this score. They use local independent fitters and not big firms like B&Q for instance. Most Wickes K&B designers know their fitters and any problems normally get ironed out between them. This is not to say it always goes to plan, or to say that you do not pay over the odds for the Wickes based service. Like any company backed service you are paying for the costs of administering the service and the warranty. You can get a local joiner for a lot less for sure.

The real villians on fitting charges are Homebase and B&Q who would have probably charged in the region of 4K for a fit like this:eek:

    Branch is sutton-in-ashfield.

Ah right, don't know anyone there, was hoping it was a branch where I knew someone and I'd have had a word with them :)

This is by far the best option, you'll save yourself a grand or so on the fitting costs.

As for CDA appliances, don't bother. I used to sell them though one of the independants I used to work for. We stopped using them after a little under a year. Build quality is ok, but the components they use are no-where near the quality of what you'll get from one of the German manufacturers.

I also found them to be VERY poor at customer service and to be fair, they are over-priced for what they are...

To OP, I am also in the process of having a kitchen fitted in a new extension. I'm just slightly ahead of your schedule.

I also started down the Homebase/Sheds route and have ended up using an independent in my village who is fitting it as I type.

The kitchen is quite a few units (7m by 3.2m), and my budget is similar to yours so I thought I would share what we have as a comparison point.

    We have :-
    - high gloss units made locally
    - quartz worktop
    - peninsula and normal worktop surfaces
    - curved cupboard bases round the peninsula
    - Siemens for all appliances apart from the fridge freezer (microwave alone was circa 700 I think)
    - LED lighting for both kitchen cupboards and ceiling
    - granite sink

I think pricewise we have done quite well, but the proof will be when it is finished!

I'll post pictures when it is finished.

I think OP has a good budget and can expect good quality components at that price.

Also, the advice and patience shown on here has been invaluable. I can't underestimate what benefit they have provided and do appreciate it.
