Right to printed pay-slip

Hello,
I know all employees have a right to a pay slip - but is there anything stating how we can/should receive it?
Our company are moving entirely to paperless pay-slips, meaning we have to go online to access them, from where we can then save them as pdf / print if required.
Whilst I like the idea of going paperless, I'm just wary of not getting something 'in writing' - especially as I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage in the not too distant future - we're assured 'most' banks will happily take a print out, but if my experience of companies accepting printed bills & bank statements as being 'real' is anything to go by, I shan't hold my breath!

Can you not print them out and get an official stamp from payroll when you need them as proof for applying for mortgage?0
-
nope
they won't do it due to the number of people who are likely to ask - it's a big company (which probably means they've done their research and are all above board, but it's still a pain is the rear).
That said, the paperless option has been available for about 9 months now in tandem with paper, so perhaps when paper is fully turned off in a couple of weeks, they'll review procedures for these sort of requests - or, I dunno, a 're printing' service ie if you need the last 6 months, they just print them for you when required.
Come to think of it, if you used good enough paper, not sure you'd know the difference anyway, so maybe there isn't such as issue? (When they turned on the paperless option, they moved the old 'carbon-copy perforated edges' style payslips with just a printed A4 letter in a envelope)0 -
For a mortgage application the mortgage people will contact your HR department. HR will then call you and ask if they can reveal your salary etc. This info is provided to the mortgage company on headed paper and always accepted so you wont need the payslips. In this day and age, pretty much all banks will accept a printed payslip as it will still have your details on it and will be an exact replica of your paper payslip.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Thanks Steve - just had bad experiences with applying for credit products recently, where they wouldn't accept printed bank statements / utility bills, but I guess if it's something as big as a mortgage, they're not going to base their decision purely on a pay slip anyway & will want to validate what it says anyway.
also a pain, as I have every payslip I've ever had (bar a few from my earlier years), and be a shame to break that - I often refer back to them (as I'm having to at the moment as it happens) Oh well - embrace change I must.0 -
And the right to receive a payslip does not specify how that should be done. Technically, back of a fag packet will do provided it has all the information on it.0

thanks Jinx, sorry missed your post before replying to Steve - but what you say makes sense with that I figured happened with them validating the payslip anyway, so it's origin not being so important.
Perhaps I'm just trying to find an excuse not to change :d0 -

Don't suggest it - they'll probably do it!
I'm sure this is just a money-saying exercise under the guise of being 'green'!0 -

I know some public sector employers are switching to paperless payslips and are pretty explicit about the fact it's about saving money. To be fair, they have worse things to cut back on.0 -
My employer has switched to paperless ones too, to save money. I just print them out at work if I need a hard copy of one for anything. Although it can be irritating, I'd rather they save money by switching to paperless payslips rather than save money by sacking people tbh.0
