Doing your own make-up?

Is anyone doing their own make-up on the day? I thought it would be nice for someone to do it for me on the day, but after looking at prices today (over £200 for me and 2 BM's:eek:), i am seriously contemplating doing it myself.

Hi Danielle,
Definitely doing my own make up. Miss Chievous has a good bridal make up tutorial (on her own website and on youtube), and I am going to treat myself to, and experiment with, some nice make up in the run up to the wedding.
A lot of brides do their own, including of course the new Duchess of Cambridge

Heh heh is it wrong that I'm using our wedding in just under 14 months time to buy nice posh make up now to 'experiment with'? :rotfl: Any excuse to treat myself!
(PS Yes I'm doing my own)0 -
Apparently Kate did her own, so there's a good precedent! (I find that a little hard to believe though, given the glare of the world's press on that day).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I would use the opportunity to get makeovers at the top dept store make-up counters, select the best and then use the intervening time to perfect the look. Good luck!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I had a bridal makeover at the MAC counter at Selfridges last weekend. I paid £25 which was redeemable against any products purchased. The make up artist was fantastic and put me under no pressure to buy anything. I was there almost 2 hours and absolutely loved what she did with me.
I bought practically all the products and brushes she used on me and I have already started practising! I have started slowly and people at work have already noticed subtle differences!
It was a lot of money but if that's what it takes to make me look gorgeous...! I see it as the beginning of a whole new me and I have until November to perfect my look!0 -
I did my own make-up, much the same as Chrissy1981, I went to an Estee Lauder counter in Debenhams and bought the products from them. Still not cheap but at least I have the make-up to use again

i could agree with chrissy more mac is fab and if its good enough for kate middleton on her big day then i think it will be lush plus you will have all the products to use over and over ... i love mac and will only put mac on my face the girls are always brill and the boys too... take a bridemaid with you to help you when your learning and she can help you when your nervos kick in0

I read somewhere that Bobbi Brown were doing free bridal makeup tutorials throughout May (usually £30, redeemable against products) - well, I went to my local counter last week to check it out and was told that they're doing them free permanently now! I haven't booked a session to try this out yet, but any ladies who have a BB counter near them, give it a try:)0

Doing my own as I would never let anyone else draw my eyebrows on
(I have a condition which means I have no eyebrows) I also don't think I really trust other people to put my make up on the way I like it. Got it down pretty well now. It seems so expensive for something you can do yourself. 0 -
I did my own make-up too, who else knows exactly how to make you look the way you want on your big day other than you?! I was a BM at the weekend and was given the chance to have my make-up done for me but after having a look at the other girl's faces I opted to do my own, I didn't want to risk feeling like a painted doll all day! The bride wasn't out of pocket as the make-up lady just charged per person so I didn't feel bad for not having it done!
I used some false lashes which I don't normally wear but I found some really fine ones which are just to add a little length and volume and they looked really good, may be worth checking out just to add a little something special, and you won't need mascara if you're wearing them so no worry about panda eyes if you have a little weep at the altar!
I would recommend an evening watching You Tube tutorials and investing in some decent brushes then just practice a lot! You'll have it down to a T by the big day!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
