Hi there, this may seem random, but is there facilities in which you can live permanently in a static caravan? (in my case sheffield).
I just wondered since the 'council bidding sytem' is so abysmal, could this be an option?

My friend lives in a "static" on her friend's land on a permanent basis. There are purpose built mobile home and chalet parks all over the country, or you may be able to find someone with a single unit on their land which they let out.
However, if you do go for a privately let unit, make sure they have permission for 12 month residential occupancy, otherwise you might end up having to move out for a few weeks of the year!0 -

Thanks, yeah i know thats one of the things with holiday caravans, that you have to vacate so long out of the year for tax reasons.
I was just wondering thats all, the housing situation is that bad and just thought if it was an option, and not just for 'seaside' towns!:D2016 Money challenge - £2900 -
I think Pastures New lives in a caravan.0

No, she doesn't but it's one of the housing options she was and perhaps still is considering0

Plenty of park homes about. Really used to irritate me in property searches as you can't exclude them or at least I never discovered how. I couldn't exclude them on price alone as some of them are actually more expensive than bricks and mortar round here.0

Yes there are a lot where I am (down south) and they are popular, I've known a few people who have lived in them when they wanted somewhere cheap to stay. Of course, prices vary wildly as does the quality. Some of them are HUGE though, easily as big as a normal flat, with their own little gardens. Of course, these are coastal caravan parks so I don't know about Sheffield.0

One other thing to bear in mind is service charges if you live on a site. Site owners can more or less charge what they like for site maintenance, litter picking, grass cutting in communal areas, security lighting - indeed anything they choose to charge for! You may also have private sewage/septic tank fees.0

From Shelter:
The laws governing the owning and renting of mobile homes are different to those governing traditional 'bricks and mortar' properties. This section explains your rights if you own or rent a mobile home such as a caravan or a park home, or you rent a pitch to place it on.
A mobile home could be a caravan, a motorhome, a prefabricated bungalow or park home.
