Sorry I didn't come back to this sooner - sometimes forget this part of the board is here.

We met on Monday and have reassessed the payments he is making. As he is having the children more at the moment due to my working more, we have decided to look at the proportion of the time he has them on a month by month basis rather than deciding it is always the same. We are also deducting the full cost of the IVA from his net pay before working out the 20% for the two children and then the proportion he has the children. This means he is paying slightly less maintenance than he was, but it feels fairer and is also sustainable in the long run I feel. I did retrospectively recalculate payments for May and June (he had made them already by standing order) and have repaid him the difference.

I am keeping all the child benefit and my tax credits (currently getting WTC but this will stop when I am working less). As I am hopefully going to be earning more this year than I intitally anticipated, I should be all right financially.

In no way do I want to take my ex for all he's got as I do know that although his salary is good, the money does soon go. I would be lying to say I don't get a certain sense of satisfaction of him realising that he needs to organise his own money now and rather better than he has done in the past, but we are still being amicable :)

And the children seem fine with all that is going on which is the most important thing really.
