Hi, my partner and I are planning on buying a house in 6 years time when he comes out of the navy.
Between now and then we are hoping to save at least £24000 and will also have another £50000 some of which we will use as a deposit.
The question is both of us have had debt issues in the past and are currently paying off our debts which we should have done by the middle of next year, will any late payments, defaults etc cause us problems in 6 years providing we have paid everything off and have no other debt by then?

My understanding is that after six years any major credit issues are cleared. If you are careful and make all your payments from now on, you should be in a strong position in six years.
