Lunch in Comber?

Options
Would anyone of recommendations for lunch in Comber this Thursday? We are meeting an elderly Aunt who is over from Canada on holiday and we'd like to take her for lunch and as she is staying in Comber with friends we thought we'd get something there. Not a pub please and along the line of traditional food rather than Chinese/Indian etc.

Many thanks, not our neck of the woods at all!

I hear the garden centre just outside comber does nice food but I've never been in it. Though bistro 25 is good (the guy from masterchef runs it) if you can stretch to going to ards and climbing a few stairs.

Sugarcane in the square does excellent food. Georgian House could be a possibility too but have not been there since it reopened so perhaps someone else could comment. Others to consider would be Lisbarnett house (a short distance out of comber towards Balloo).

The scrabo garden centre flyer64 talks about does good food too. Website is here: http://www.scrabogardencentre.com/

On past experiences, would *not* recommend the TT at the bridge in comber or Balloo house in Balloo. A combination of poor and rude service in addition to more expensive prices.
    Regards, Robin.

Depends on what you mean by lunch? Cooperage is good, then there is the Sugarcane http://www.sugarcanecoffeecompany.com/docs/uploaded/Comber_Menu_pdf.pdf
    The Willowtree

and of course The Georgian House all around The Square.

The garden centre is not as good as it used to be. http://www.scrabogardencentre.com/

Agree with the others about the Cooperage, we love it and Denise is tops!

A bit out of town we also like Lisbarnett House or for something a bit different there is the cafe at Castle Espie - though we don't like it as much since the renovations.

Love to hear where you end up going and how you get on!
DJWW - cos we won't let it!

My most favourite is The Grey Goose in Comber in a little courtyard near the square. Lovely food and nice gift dept. also when in Comber you should visit the DOGHOUSE GALLERY where there are lots of original handmade items for sale from jewellery to handbags, paintings, scarves and ceramics. Your aunt would love to see the work of local artists im sure. Just a gorgeous wee shop! Its up the top of Castle Street at the mini roundabout.
ive got the craft bug, watch out its catching!!!;)

Can also recommend Sugarcane for lunch. I have heard Georgian House is nice since new owners have taken over. Have never been myself but going with a group of friends in a couple of weeks.

Could also recommend "The Old Post Office" at Lisbane - again just a couple of miles out the road. Also has a selection of arts and crafts for sale.

If you fancy a potter around a shop I could thoroughly recommend The Crafty Fox in the old Northern Bank Building in Killinchy. A real treasure trove of things for your home from soap and napkins to furniture as well as some jewellry and items of clothing. They don't seem to have a website but are on facebook if you have it.

Wherever you go - enjoy your day!!!!
  • Brilliant thanks! Looks like I should get something there, and the gift shop ideas are great as she is a bit of a shopper! I will update you with where we had lunch later in the week, and many thanks again..
  • Just a quick update. We had a lovely lunch in the Sugarcane, food was delicious, good value and the staff were very pleasent and efficient. We would definately go there again. Thanks for recommendation..
