Wow - Thank you everyone for your great replies - I think I am going to brown the mince tonight seeing as it is my first attempt as i don't like thought of lifting the lid on the slow cooker and finding all the fat floating on the top - I think it may put me off
Ive also got a whole chicken so that will be going in there on Tuesday

regards the chicken, i recommend you read this thread. You may need to make something to lift the chickn out as it will literally fall to pieces
