Sorry to be a pain but can anyone enlighten me on the current Asda coupon policy. I just need to know if you can use any valid coupon without buying the product and also an estimate of how many you can use per shop/spend.

Hi,
There are 2 Asda's near me, but I only visit one of them....
It's not the first one, where they will accept just one voucher up to a maximum £3 (even if you've spent £100!).
No, my fave is the second store, where they cheerfully accept any manufacturers' coupons, any amount, at the till. The CS desk staff confirm this to me when I double-check that it's OK before I shop.
They just won't accept their own (unless buying the product) or other Supermarket coupons. Nor will they take book vouchers (like from the Daily Mail), and they are good at scrutinising the coupons for dates & t&cs but I have got used to what they say no to.
BUT when I have a lot of manaufacturers' coupons (e.g. bought off eBay or cut off cereal packets) they will take multiples up to very high percentages. I have used over 60% in coupons there, then I ran out (of vouchers, not bolted from the store!!).
So IMHO it's down to the store manager....PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Asda @ Trowbridge is now saying no coupons unless you purchase the item. Sometimes you can still get some through on the self scans, but they watch them like a hawk and will reject you if you try to use.0

Have you tried on the self scan in Crawley? I was told off last time i tried to use one.

at our Asda they've taped up the holes for coupons for self scan . Apparently people have managed to swipe the same coupon several times before putting it in. God knows how!Saving money right, left and centre0

I've heard of people scanning the voucher then inserting plain paper into the voucher slot.
I don't shop at Asdas much but the other day I did and gave the cashier some vouchers, she called the supervisor who said she could scan 3 of any one type of voucher and any others. This she did then her till beeped as it had exceeded the set amount for voucher usage. So supervisor comes back and just authorises the vouchers.
However, if this is going to happen each time then I'd rather shop at Tescos and take my chances with a nice male SA

My local ASDA will accept 30% of your shopping in coupons! but not all the SA know it so you have to battle and like yesterday ask for the supervisor to come and agree with me.... it was very nice the young lad was adement (sp) that I couldn't use the coupons... he was very sheepish when told provided that they are not asda's own they will take up to 30%. Woo hoo.
Happy New Year0 -
My Local Asda Thornaby the self scan took any coupons then it was policed to 10% i went last week and the coupon slots had been taped up and you had to call the assistant if you had a coupon so it looks like someone has been abusing the system, generally at the tills it is 10% though and no more than one of the same coupon.also Tesco Coulby Newham Self scan won't take any, slotys are taped over too.0

ASDA Hatfield are not good. I gave over 3 today - 2 scanned - one did not (it said sainsbury in small print so fair play) cashier then looked at other 2 and took one which had scanned off as I had not brought it - manufacturer and then questioned the other one which I had brought £2 catfood for a manky can I had received. She made such a deal out of it that I shall not bother there again. I had the person behind me breathing alcohol down my neck to all in all not a pleasant trip. Consoluation is I got some fab new slippers as my old ones had holes in them, wearing them now. Happy New Year to you all.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
