Would you work double the hours for double the money?

I'll disagree and say I wouldn't do it. Not that I could now having had to give up work due to ME and I used to have a stressful job in the City once......
My husband often has to work long hours for a time and spends most of the time at the weekend catching up on sleep and rest so we don't have a 'proper' weekend if he's worked loads of hours that week. He also gets more susceptible to colds etc and he is not a weak person by any means.
The main thing is do you really want to do it? If you were struggling financially it would be different as it would ease the financial stress. But you're not struggling and having to work a 6 month contract will seem mightily long if you've lost the motivation.
Good luck with whatever you do. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the negatives16 x Sanyo HIT 240w panels, 3.84kWp, south facing, 30 degree slope in the SW, 4.4 Eltek HE-t inverter installed 27/03/120 -
Another dissenting voice here. I focus on quality of life, and would the extra money really improve your life enough to make it worth the manic 6 months? For me it wouldn't, but maybe for you it would.0

Go for it, make sure you spend the weekends with your wife though and make sure you treat her with the extra money you will be making. From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0

go for it, at the end of the day, working from home makes it a lot easier.
Really wish i had a work from home job sometimes lol0 -
Does it have to be all or nothing? Is it not possble to compromise, eg carry on with your normal working hours, plus half the hours on top?
See how it goes.0 -
It depends on your priorities, really. One one hand, you'll have no time to yourself or your partner.
On the other, you could save it for a big spend, or clear a chunk of your mortgage so you can have a better lifestyle when you're older.
I would, but that's just me.0 -
It depends on how you function too; if you feel fine working that amount then rock on and go for it - but if you tend to feel rough working so much, then is it worth it? Probably not...
You have to look at all things in balance. I used to pull 15 hour call centre shifts, and in all honesty go home with a headache. But by the time overtime and commission was calculated, I was quids in... [ah I miss those days, money seems to be such a distant memory -_-]On the up

Some really valid comments - quality of life, my own health and do I really need it?
Trying it this week (writing at 5.05am!) - don't know if I will last till 6.30pm and for another four days, but think best way to see it's effect and if I can do it!0 -
I agree with Roxy, you say ''I don't really need the money'', in which case don't do it, I love my job but I work to live and don't live to work.
Good luck whatever you choose0 -
I would - I did 6 months or so of 100 hours over 6/7day weeks about 18 months ago. To be honest I probably couldn't have done it for much longer but the boost in money was well worth it at the time.
