Hi guys,
A quick update on things so far.
Lee, from the Web Relations Team, has advised me that the default on my Credit Report was registered by Vodafone and not Cabot.
He has passed the matter to their Quality Assurance Department for further investigation.
Thanks to all who suggested I contact Lee, as he has been very helpful.
Regards,

Sorry to be downbeat but I had a similar experience with Vodaphone... their WRT promised to help with morale boosting posts such as you have received... however it all came to nothing - my case was far simpler than yours and I only had £128 "debt" which was a genuine oversight (an employer had closed down and I assumed had finished a small £15 a month contract for a vodaphone dongle that was being paid for by their bank account, they hadn't - I had moved house so never received any mail (my redirection had finished just before the company closed) and eventually a DCA contacted me at my new address and horrified and apologetic I settled immediately) - in the end their "helpful" team made it so hard for me to prove my case (asking for bank statements from a company now closed - how the hell was I going to get them?) that I gave up.
Like you I am in my 50's - had an absolutely 100% credit report - all loans and cards fully paid never missed a payment on anything but the kiddies in the office of vodaphone refuse to show a modicum of common sense when dealing with people of obvious good repute and left a black mark on my record - all I could do was post a notice of correction (useless). I mean come on would I be so vociferous in defence of my credit history if I were a serial non payer or the like?
Good luck with them - I personally would never deal with them again and I might add my daughter cancelled her large business contract with them because of their treatment of me so its cost them some good custom as well.0 -

Hi Alan,
Thanks for keeping your thread up to date with the progress of your case so far.

Hi paulsad,
I do recall dealing with your case around eighteen months ago.
From my recollections, we did ask for other information in addition to the bank statements you've alluded to here; however, we've no record of you coming back to us.
Additionally, I'd say that we can never guarantee the outcome to any case we handle but will always investigate it as thoroughly as possible.
Kind regards to you both.

Hi guys,
Another update on this case.
Lee from Vodafone has been very helpful so far. He has called off the debt collectors and is arranging for the default to be removed from my credit file.
He has also requested a list of my expenses to date. Vodafone are going to look at this and hopefully refund all or part of my costs. Fingers crossed.
After almost two and a half years it looks like this nightmare may be nearly over.
Thanks to all who put me in touch with Lee. Without him I think I would still be banging my head against a brick wall.
Will keep you updated of any further progress.

Hi guys.
The nightmare is finally over.
The default has been removed from my credit file and Vodafone have issued a payment of £53 as a 'goodwill gesture'.
No apology of course but at least it is now over.
Thanks to all for your advice and to Lee from Vodafone who finally got it sorted out.
Thanks again.
Regards,
Alan.:j0 -

Hi Lee.
I have had a similar problem. I owned a vodafone 3g datacard in 2008. In a nutshell the 3g datacard did not work on a mac. I took it back to the store and to cut a long story short, the store (Oxford) took it back and told me the contract was cancelled and that I should cancel the direct debit. I did this and then due to some clerical error on vodafones behalf I started getting payments due and then a defaulted account (IE very bad credit score). When I realised this was happening I immediately contacted the store again who rectified the issue and I was sent a statement of account showing that the money I supposedly owed had been credited back to the account (refunded) and that the account was closed.
However vodafone never removed this from my credit record. I only found out about this a couple of weeks ago as I have applied for a mortgage and was declined on the equifax credit report. This is the only negative thing on my credit report and the only reason it has been declined. They have offered me an alternative mortgage which is an additional £60 per month. The amount that was supposedly owed and then refunded by Vodafone was about £131 so if this is not resolved in haste I will be suffering at the cost of £700 per year for vodafones error.
I have contacted customer services 5 times now, each time I have been told they will fill in a paper form and send it off internally as the account cannot be found (apparently it is too old to be on the online record).
I have had a reply from vodafone email support saying they cannot help as it is an issue I have to look into with a debt collector working on behalf of vodafone. I can see from the reply to that email that the individual responsible for the reply does not understand what I am asking and has not actually replied to the question I have asked.
I am extremely frustrated. Why was this there in the first place. Why am I having to deal with this now?
I am a vodafone business customer and pay for vodafone for myself and my employees. I am appealed at this aggressive approach and then lack of rectification.
You are my last hope. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me and help me resolve this.
Please contact me via this forum or alternatively the account number for this account was:

Hi Lee, my husband is having a similar problem at the moment. He stopped receiving text message billing and never received any paper statements since December 2010. Now it has been defaulted but still we have not received a bill or any correspondance from vodafone since December. Now it has been defaulted and sold to a debt collector. This used to get paid every month with no hassle for more than 2 years until the problem occured. I hope you can get in touch with us to help.
Many Thanks.0 -
