    Hi wheezymummy.

As far as I can see you can take your own food and drink on the train - just like travelling on any train in UK. From what I have read you are better taking your own as it is very expensive on board and also after you have checked in.

As for your mobile - all you will need to do is to active it for use abroad. Having said that I am not sure if you still need to these days as I activated mine over 10 years ago:o

I wouldn't use you bank card to pay for everything as you will probably be charged per transaction. We always take cash with us - you will probably need some when you arrive anyway.

Oh yes - check your passport is in date ;)

Oh and one more thing - have a fab time ;)

Take at least a hundred EUR in cash and a credit card to pay with wherever possible.

Check on the Orange website for the procedure for registering your phone for use abroad, and also the cost of using it. Bear in mind you have to pay both to make and receive calls, so texts are probably the way to go.

Do you have a Halifax Clarity credit card??? If so this is the best exchange rate and no charges. We always take a travel kettle with adaptor and tea bags or whatever drink you are used to as most hotels do not have brew gear in the rooms. Cheapest way of phoning home is with a card you can buy from a bar or tabac, many have the instructions in English. If your mobile rings don't answer it, it can cost between 50p and 80p a minute to receive a call.
Enjoy your trip and then come back to France for more!!!!

Dont forget your EHIC card (european health insurance card) these are free and you can apply for them online.

Not to be confused with travel insurance, you still need this.

Dont forget an adaptor if you are taking a hairdryer, kettle or anything electrical.

If you are taking a credit/debit card, it might be advisable to inform your provider that you are going away

    Have fun
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
