great os saving money tip - get the flu!

I've discovered a brilliant way of saving money. Have the flu for two weeks - all thoughts of spending money, even on essentials like food, just go out the window!! :j
You survive on toast and water, because that's all you can stomach; you have no energy for shopping or even thinking about shopping; you live on what you've got in the house and send DH out for bare essentials like bread and milk.
Come the end of the two weeks, you've saved on food shopping money, you've spent no cash on fripperies, and to top it all you've lost half a stone, just in time for Christmas!!!
And because your doctor has repeatedly told you it's just a virus, even though you've felt like death warmed up, you haven't even had to spend any money on prescriptions!
At least the bank balance is healthy...

I had the same idea too and have been off this week with a cold. monday dd and dgs came round to "look after" me which consisted of me making loads of tea and toast for them and almost drove me back to work. last night popped into asda for essentials and met dd who tells me that she is now getting my cold and can i have dgs for night so he doesn't get it. youngest dd came home from school with glasses tied up with string so this morning have had to get dgs ready, drop him off at his mum's, take youngest and glasses to specsavers and drop her off to school. I'm going back to work tomorrow for the rest. Get well soon all of you

i agree expertwannabe, i was bothered with my gallbladder for 2 weeks and not eating much, my freezer, fridge and cupboards have never been so full:D
  • same here expertwannabe. signed off for two weeks with throat infection and upper respiratory tract infection. Back to school next week 5lbs lighter.

    - the doctors advice of rest, keeping warm and plenty of hot drinks hasn't made a blind bit of difference. I still have a coughing attack just moving from one room to another or uttering more than three words!
