Virgin Wines

Options
Just bought 12 bottles of red wine and a bottle of "free" champagne for my parents as a Christmas present.

The price is reduced from 83.88 to 59.99 with £5.99 for postage.

So £65.98 all in.

I'm not sure you'll be so happy when you receive the case - after buying a mixed case from them a while ago (my first and last one), I won't be using them again.

Wine was grim from the first four bottles we opened, and gave the other 8 away to my parents! It's true (I think) what they say about wine clubs being an easy method of wineries disposing of cr4p wine for a good margin without throwing it away....

I have to agree about Virgin wines they were bad. I used Laithwaites and thought they were ok tho.

I have had many lovely wines from Virgin so hopefully you will enjoy yours too.
  • Timmne - the great thing about Virgin is that you don't have to pour/give away their wine - if you don't like it, they'll give you a refund. OK, it's a credit, but they stock safe well known wines that you can spend it on.

Personally I've always found them very good - the worst case I've had through the post was from the Sunday Times wine club.

I tend to find Virgin wines fairly good. Had 3 cases so far and only had one bottle that I would not buy again, and that was from a binend promotion in the summer.

Tip...if you have an egg card, get to virgin wines through the egg website (egg/eggcrd/rewards/virginwine) and get a further 20% instant cashback on your purchase
  • I used to use Virgin wines a lot then stoppd using them about 2 years ago because of quality issues. To be truthful it got embarrasing phoning up saying that the wine was sub standard.

They however have kept in touch so this month bought two cases of wine The first case, which was a single type of wine was sent back aas it was vile, their so called wine of the year! The second case which was a selection has fared slightly better. Five wines have been excellent, five I have rejected for being corked; musty; or just down right horrible, which leaves two left to try.

Must give Virgin their due though as they have accepted my comments and are in the process of issuing a credit, but will not be buying anymore wine from them.

My wife however thanks them for giving her a crash course in corked wine:rotfl:
