Doesn't the local primary care trust have a record of our DOB???
Are the ones at the doctors for any age??
About time they offered this for EVERYONE ... Would be good if they changed the rules for the postal ones for any age as you don't get suddenly protected as soon as you hit 250 -

You can be as careful as you like, but it doesn't always work that way. Accidents happen for numerous reasons for example condoms aren't 100% they do split occasionally. Some people don't say anything to the other party involved so they would be none the wiser.
For more people who need to be tested to get tested, we need to remove all stimga associated with it. Clamidiya is easily treated with anti-bitics, it's easier to treat the sooner it is found, than to leave it and end up with serious problems.
Pharmacies also do the tests.
Very well said. Chlamydia is a growing problem especially within the young community, and often as it shows no symptoms for people who have contracted it, it might go undiagnosed in your body for a long time. Chlamydia can cause great harm to your reproductive sytem, and cause you to become infertile without you even knowing that you have it.
These tests are a great idea for anyone who is sexually active - be sure and protect yourself and your partner.0 -

I also have never needed one and there would be no point in me getting one as I have and do only sleep with one person, my boyfriend, maybe thats what the other lady meant too.
My friend goes into the clinic though so I will be telling her about this, would be much better for her.0 -
I've known several women who have said that ...
princesswoo's post is spot on, plenty of people think that they have no need for STD testing, unfortunately if they are wrong they only find out when the damage is done.
This was genuinely said in jest, although I trust him implicitly I completely agree with the pp that STD screening should be essential for anyone who is sexually active.
Unfortunately the only times I have been tested is during ante natal appointments.MSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy0 -

I have actually had this STI and i got it from my partner whom i trusted at the time, i only found out when i was having issues with the pill and decided to get a coil fitted but after i had extreme stomach pains with the coil to the point of passing out and had to have it removed and the doc luckily did some swabs at the same time.
I was still able to have children but dread to think what if.0 -

Same here, but I have had more than one partner (no one night stands but a fair few longish relationships), I had my 1st test with my first partner, just because I got offered one, and it's turned into a routine thing, when I met a new partner we'd get tested. I didn't know where they'd been and no way was I trusting them with my health, I know that sounds bad but i am going back a fair few years, all my friends were super sexually active and weren't very careful and suffered the consequences in their late teens early 20's, many having various drunken one night stands and most teenagers back then as now we're only interested in sleeping with as many people as possible, most NOT all.
I had no idea who my current boyfriend had been with beforehand, if they'd been careful and there aren't always any symptons, so they probably didn't have a clue whether they had an STD or not.
I even had one relationship totally breakdown, because we'd both had the test early on, then I got pregnant, had problems, got tested again, got given the all clear, few months later, same pregnancy issues another antenatal test, I HAD CLAMIDIYA, got the antibiotics.
He claimed he hadn't cheated, I obviously knew I hadnt cheated, But I got it from somewhere. We broke up neither of us could trust the other, I lost the baby at 5 months, not due to clamidiya but I had a lot of other pregnancy problems.
In my 6 week post natal check I demanded copies of all my notes for the pregnancy, the hospital had mixed up the tests (including my blood tests) to cut a long story short, I NEVER HAD CLAMIDIYA, I had another girls positive test, she had my negative test. Up until that point she thought she was clear.
In those 4 months that girl walked round thinking she was fine, imagine how she felt when she found out the truth, the implications of receiving incorrect information. The people she may have passed it on to. The damage it could have done to her.
She may have unwittingly told people she just got tested and was clear, it wasn't her fault, the hospital obviously apologised perfusely. These people were then in the same situation she was, ''I got tested just before I met my ex, I was clear, I met her, she just had a test, she was clear, therefore I'm still clear.'' Hence how it keeps going round in circles.
Obviously mixed up tests are really rare but you get my point. Get tested just in case. If I hadn't lost my baby, I wouldn't have asked to see my notes searching for answers and all of us would have been none the wiser.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
