Lettings Negotiator Advise Needed!

I have been looking to get into the industry for a while now and finally taken the plunge and have had an interview for 2 well known Estate Agents. I have relevant experience although not in the same field but my previous and current job has many simularities.

One has currently invited me to attend a 2nd interview.

I wondered if anyone in this position could shed any light on what the interview could involve?

I feel my 1st interview went really well and although i'm feeling confident, would appreciate some advise :)

(please no negative comments about estate agents!)

    Boards go strangely quiet.

Possibly so, but this post is only a few minutes old!

I imagine anyone who works for an estate agent, customer facing, wouldn't necessarily show it obviously on these boards because of the stereotype reputation.

Every interviewers techniques are very different, what did you go through in your first interview?

First interviews tend to me employer telling you about the company, you telling the interviewer about your past history etc.

Second Interviews are normally a good sign they like you, and will probably normally go into depth about the role etc.

If its a large company a 2nd interview is normal, smaller companies dont always have the need to.

    Thank you.

They are both a large company (not had 2nd interview offer from one of them - yet!) with over 500 staff across their branches.

They were both held at their head offices, this 2nd interview is being held at a branch so i assume this is the branch interested in taking me on if suitable.

We went through my previous jobs in fine detail, i was asked many questions about myself and why i am looking to get into Lettings/why i think i would be good at the job, what i thought the job entailed and then they went in to detail about what the company offers, what they look for in staff and their pay/commission structure.

This is quite normal with a large company, normally meeting with a director or HR rep first interview, and then with a branch manager 2nd time around.

2nd interview won't probably be in much detail, probably more easy going.

All very unscientific at mine! If your a confident communicator and the boss likes you he will give you a try! Its very much about personality at my place, either your personality fits with the company or not. in my opinion there isnt much you can do about it if they decide it doesnt.

An important thing at our company is we are told not to and get majorly in troube if the boss thinks we have lied to any customers. We are honest but we do try to focus on the positives in every area or house. sometimes though you can just tell what people want and you can be as honest as you like with the about an area.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

I've always worked in sales/customer service roles, i'm a very happy and positive character which i think was reflected in my interview.
I know afew people in the industry and they've all been very positive about their job.

Do you remember how your interview went and any possible scenarios i might be asked?

It was nearly three years ago, no senarios I dont think, we just had a chat about how good I was! lol, serioulsy we talked about the previous expereince I have working with the public etc, never worked in sales, in my opinion lettings is slightly different, as I could never be an Estate agent, but love working in lettings.
The last thing you want to do is come over too confident. We dont have any hardcore sales people at our place and we are always doing really well in the agency rankings.
For us its more of a customer service thing, make sure you get the landlords the right types of tenant and keep them happy, and make sure you find the tenant the property they are after and keep them happy. If you show them something they dont like, as them why and try to see if you have anything else that would be more suitable.
