Are Halifax having me on?

Hope someone can help.

We went to see Halifax last week for a mortgage app.
All went through ok, yet when coming to the credit check the system crashed and had to wait till the following Tuesday to get the green light. Which we did.

We were told that on tuesday they will try to arrange a valuation, yet it appears nothing has since been booked in because there has been a problem with the systems at head office.

Today I phoned to see if the problem had been sorted, aparently not, yet they are now saying it's with the underwriters and there is a backlog to get valuations done and I can't chase them...

I was under the impression that a valuation goes in before the underwriting process begins? Are they trying to fob me off for time?
Has anyone else had this delay for a valuation to be booked in?

i dont think so , im in the exact same position with the Halifax at the moment my application has been with the underwriters since Tuesday also well i answered some queries of theres on tuesday and still waiting for a response from them , very frustrating as the copy of deeds and missives are waiting to be signed on my part if this falls through im in a bit if a pickle

I spoke with my Halifax agent and he informed me that the underwriters will do there thing before valuations as they dont want to have the customer go to the expense of a valuation to find out it was pointless and you were out of pocket by another 500 pound
