hi everyone
im new here, I am getting married next year and really excited.
I am thinking of getting a weding planner, as I am quite busy, not necessarily with the full planning, as I would like to do most myself, but I think someone on the day would be a good idea, as I want to be able to enjoy the day and not wory about anything
have any of you used or would use a wedding planner. I have looked into one and found a loverly company.

hi
it personally was never ever an option for me- i have loved the planning, buying stuff, making stuff etc
it sounds ilke you just want someone there on the dya to make sure the day goes smoothly?? - the wedding coordinator at the venue should be there to do this-- (you dont have to pay extra to this)-- and your bridesmaids, ushers etc should do this tooIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

I second sammy - Our best man is going to have a list of all suppliers as is the coordinator at the venue. If its not completely right then they can do the flapping about and running around
:DStolen the OH's account so it's Jenna - not Neil:D0 -
Echoing preivious replies, our venue provides a co-ordinator that ties everything together.
We hae done most of the organising in terms of finding bands, florists, and other suppliers etc.
But the co-ordinator will take charge of most things on the day.0 -
loony - out of pure nosiness, have you had a quote?
I wouldn't dream of a wedding planner as I thought they only did weddings with a £50k plus price tag a la "Father of the Bride" or "The Wedding Planner" - but would be interested to hear of your experience.Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

hiya
thank you so much for your replies, I did speak to the venue co ordinator but they only deal with the venue, they do not deal with any outside caterers or flowers etc that I bring in, and most coordinators at venues I have spoken to are not even present on the day, they delegate to someone else. grrrr
I have had a quote from a loverly company, they take over the suppliers at 8 weeks before the wedding, they ensure everything is up to date, with timings etc and they only charge £400 plus vat, and there is 2 of them at no extra cost. they are there from begining to end, at the ceremoney and venue. and she did say that if we booked now we could pay in installments
I thought they were great being 2 of them, and also one of them is a cake maker and offered to make my cake for £300 which was £250 less than I was originally quoted.
Im so excited now but still got a year to go.0 -
Hmm I completely disagree with this- for me you are paying £400+vat for something which is done already---
Bear in mind the suppliers know exactly what they are doing- they have done weddings before- and they know what to do- when to turn up and arrange the flowers- when to set the cake up etc etc—that’s what you are paying them for
If the wedding coordinator is not there on the day- then the staff will be—and they know what to do 2
Same with outside caterers
Also the cake at £300- isn’t actually that cheap—defo worth looking around for this
Obviously its your decision
But I just feel it’s a complete waste of moneyIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

so at 8 weeks before the wedding they contact all ur supppliers- which you will want to do anyway- as you will want to meet with them, have pre wedding photoshoot, have taste sessions etc etc
so you will do it anyway!
and your bms, ushers, best man are there on the day- and they know what to do
i just feel its such a waste of moneyIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

hi sammy
thank you for your honesty,, the cake I want is a 7 tier cake so it is defiently worth the money.
still unsure on the wedding planner tho, i just want to be able to relax and I want my bridesmaids and ushers to have fun too, i dont want them to feel like they are working, they are quests as much as anyone. I just dont want myself or family and friends to have any stress and worries.
I will let you all know what I decide.0 -
I can certainly think of better ways to spend £480! But - each to their own!Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

Think of the thousands of weddings each year that go to plan without a hitch, and without a wedding planner. On the day, it's things like pay the DJ, show guests to their seats, keep hold of the bride's make-up. I'd not want a planner to do that stuff anyway - and the bridal party won't feel special unless they're doing something to contribute to the dayVirtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93
