HFO services

would somebody kindly advise me.. i had 2 credit cards with barclaycard a few years ago the hit financial problems and was unable to repay sufficiently the debt totalled approx £10000. eventually HFO took over these debts. the last contact i had with them was may 2007 when i had provisionally agreed to pay £20 a month. i remarried and moved house etc and somehow the debt got forgotten. I did not receive any contact from hfo until april this year when i received the letters that everyone else seems to receive notice of assignment litigation etc. I have so far nopt replied to any of these letters. they are stating that the debt is now £19000 !!!! I received the schedule of litigation letter on may 12th detailing timetable to going to court etc. Could you please advise me what my next course of action is as this is quite a worry. I know that debt was there but i guess becasue of receiving no contact, like a lot of people,i just left it. many thanks.

Has there been a full 6 year period when you've made no payment or made any acknowledgement of debt in writing?

No as stated may 07 was the last contact so I don't think the 6year rule will apply. Will they follow up with the court threat ? Is it worth sending prove it letter ?

I can't actually recall HFO going ahead with legal action after these absurd "72 hour" notice bullwarks, but..........

Assuming that you want to respond then....

First of all, you need to get a breakdown of how that £19K has been made up.

£1 postal order goes with that, and send by recorded delivery.

    Hello all,

I've been contacted by HFO Services in relation to a Barclaycard debt I ran up whilst at University. I took out the card in 2004 and pretty much maxed out the £800 limit as soon as I got it and I don't actually remember paying any payments towards it and then I didn't use it as I was over the £800 limit. So the last time I would have used the card would have been in early 2005 and I've not been in touch or in contact with anyone about this debt since. At University I moved house a lot and I'm 99% certain it's now statute barred.

Out of the blue I got a letter from HFO services last week and they've began to call me on my mobile and at my parents house. I have no idea how they have got my mobile number as I only changed numbers a few years ago. Yesterday I sent them a Statute Barred letter and also sent a SAR letter to Barclaycard with a £10 postal order by recorded delivery for the information they have on me on file.

I'm just after some reassurance really that the debt is or almost is statute barred and if the debt isn't quite statute barred (say a few months out) then can they send round debt collectors or summons me to court and what are my options? Sit tight? The debt they are requesting is now for £1600 including interest and charges. To be honest I can now afford to pay this off, but from reading comments about HFO on here then they sound like the absolute scum of the earth and I don't want to give them a penny!!

Any advice and support you could give me would be very much appreciated. I think if they write back to me again then I'll send the CAA letter and a £1 postal order to request the info they have on me and the details of the last payment. It's just got me a little stressed as I don't want them turning up at my house!

    Many thanks
