Laptop - repair company for cracked screen?

Anyone able to recommend someone or somewhere in Ayrshire who can repair a Compaq laptop screen - the LCD seems to be bleeding into the picture. Can't guarantee son didn't drop it...!:mad:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but once the screen is gone it's not usually worth repairing as it is expensive - unless its brand new - have you tried your home insurance - accidental damage cover if your son dropped it will should work

This happened to our laptop screen because my DD kept on picking it up by the top of the screen! I rang some local computer repair places and was quoted between £140 and £200 to replace the screen. There was no way I was going to pay this (laptop was only £350) so I looked around online and found instructions on how to replace it myself (cant remember where I got the instructions from though, sorry). I then found a brand new replacement screen from a company on ebay for approximately £57. Fitted it myself, was really pleased. This was over a year ago and the laptop is fine.

Thanks for suggestions. Eventually took a chance on an internet company - computer picked up by courier, repaired and sent back by courier within 48 hrs! Considering the price of a new screen,( around £88) the total of £108 was very good.

Not sure on rules for advertising websites, but if you google 'hp laptop repairs', the company of the same name comes up! Based in Manchester, they were very good, gave the laptop a valet and the new screen came with a 12 month warranty. Very impressed! :T
