Kent/Essex - travel advice for out of towner

Hi folks, I'm flying into stanstead next Sunday, to go to Gravesend on Monday. Which travelodge/similarly priced hotel would be most convenient in terms of public transport to get to from stanstead on a Sunday evening then go on to gravesend on Monday morning?

Trains or sometime rail replacement coaches run from stanstead until quite late in the evening. There are a few hotels in and around the stanstead area if you are knackered after your flight but you can get a train direct to liverpool street from stanstead (ABOUT AN HOUR)and get pretty much anywhere on a nightbus from liverpool street (you may need to go into central london to get a connecting service). As there are no public transport links from essex to kent (i know ridiculous) you will have to divert via central london anyway and there are thousands of hotels, b&b's etc. I know travelodge / premier inn are sometimes cheaper on a sunday or go on laterooms and compare about.
