My five year fixed is coming to a end soon so i phoned them this morning to see what they could offer me We got a A and L mortgage with them. At the moment we are paying 5.04%. So theres me hoping for a two year fixed at no more than 3.75. Oh no says the young lady on the phone best we can do is 4.49 for a one year fixed or 4.69 for two years. When i suggested that their website was offering alot less "only for new customers" was the reply so i said i would go elsewhere if thats the best they could do. Then she got somewhat "Do what you want attitude" and told me to phone back in a month and see what was on offer then. I said so ive been a loyal customer for many years and have never had a problem etc and thats the sort of service they offer.
Sorry but tome a complete and utter joke.

Well stay on the SVR, or go elsewhere.0

How much equity do you have? What's the SVR?0

House is worth £200k owing on mortgage is £130k0

In that case and if the SVR is poor, you should vote with your feet.0

If you were with Alliance and Leicester on a 5yr fixed then before you do anything you need to double check what your follow on rate will be.
You may have a nice surprize and find yourself on a low BoE base rate tracker for life with no ERC or over payment charges.
This was sometimes part of the product around the time you took out your 5yr fixed
Check your paperwork and/or give them a ring again.
Ring 0800 0923 881 - it is free, compared the the other customer services one.
Hope this is the case for you.
Good Luck:)0 -
Update
A second phone call im offered today 1 year fixed at 4.49 a 2 year fixed at 4.69 and a tracker at a total of 3.99 but tied in for 2 years
Fees are £125 for 1 year £925 for 2 year and £425 for tracker
I was gonna snatch the tracker but i didnt like been tied in for 2 years If id of took the tracker intially i would have been £90 a month better off.
I did enquire as to what my rate would revert to and it was the SVR 4.24.
Any suiggestions0 -
