I've just received a bill for services that i received 13 months ago. Apart from the fact that i dispute the amount, where do i stand legally if i don't pay it because its so late?

Depending on the bill, if it was 6 years late you could refuse to pay, as it stands if you owe the money then -frankly- you owe it. If you dispute some or all then write to them.0

Hi there,
A similar thing happened to me about 3 years ago, I had a mobile phone contract and they fluffed up the payments (which were being taken direct debit) I looked into it further to find I had been charged for all sorts of things I hadn't requested like phone insurance and accident cover. I phoned the company to query the bill they had sent and they told me that their disputes department would deal with the matter. Since I had paid by either direct debit or debit card in the past I told them I had cancelled my direct debit until it was sorted out. They agreed that this was the correct procedure and within 2 days took the full amount off my debit card instead. I tried to argue with the bank that this payment had not been authorised so legally they should refund my money, at which point they told me that if you have given someone your card details at any time no matter how long ago, that is permission!! I was stuck with an unexpected debit of £170 whether I liked it or not, so just be careful.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
