Emergency shampoo

I ran out this morning, and so used shower/body wash. Just read on the net that fabric softener has been used as a shampoo and/or a conditioner. Has anyone tried this, or any other "unusual" shampoos? (PS hair seems fine so far...)

I have used washing up liquid (years and years ago). Only a little bit, diluted it first in a cup with warm water. Have also used normal soap in an "emergency".

Soap?
That's what I use if run out.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Or dont wash your hair and use a bit of talc instead until you can get to the shop and buy something that wont strip your hair:0Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I have used fabric conditioner as a conditioner when I ran out, lets just say my hair was very, very fluffy....
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If you have some conditioner, you could try the conditioner-only method. There's a thread on it.
Wet hair, apply a generous dollop of conditioner (the cheaper the better, but use whatever you have) massage well especially into the roots, then leave it for maybe 10 mins while you shower or whatever. Finally rinse really well.
Loads of people swear by it. You never know, you might discover you like it!0 -
I once tried fabric conditioner for hair conditioner and ended up having to go wash my hair again! Just wasn't soft, smelled too odd for me and didn't brush easily.
Not tried normal soap for shampoo but did try the Lush shampoo bars which wreaked my hair! (Sorry, I know they have their fan base and their other products are fine, but the shampoo bars just did not work for me in any way shape or form, didn't clean as thoroughly, didn't feel anywhere near soft afterwards and just the frizz alone was enough ! I tried both the Shine type and the moisturising type which the Lush people suggested trying as an alternative.) Love the bathbombs though! (just not for hair...)0
