Hi,
I started a dmp in March 05 and an original creditor was Cahoot, Cahoot sold this debt to Robinson Way in July 08 and now there is a default notice on my file registered in July 08. Can anyone explain if this is correct? When the dmp started in 05 and Cahoot excepted my reduced payments would that have not triggered a default and why did it take 3 years? Robinson Way are unhelpful and say that when they purchased the debt the default would have changed in to their name on my file and it was in my best interest that Cahoot never registered a default before 08 to give me time to clear the debt!
I am so confused, i don't know who is right and who is wrong?
Can anyone shed some light on this riddle?
Many thanks in advance
Rob
P.S would it be worth sending a letter asking for copies of the original default agreement and checking to make sure all the paperwork was in order? If the debt is sold on who would i contact, Cahoot or Robinson Way?

Some things are clear indicators of a default. The debt being passed to a debt collector for example.
In other cases, especially when reduced payments have been negotiated, it is much more open to interpretation on a case by case basis.
See the ICOs guidance on it here:
