  • 1. Serve up 'champagne' cocktails. Put sugar cube in bottom of glass, add a couple of drops of angostura bitters and a slug of Aldi (or other) brandy, top up with ice cold Cava. Guaranteed to hit the spot (see the volume of your guest rise after a couple of drinks..!!)

    2. Left over french bread (that day's) can be made into Italian bruschetta..slice and drizzle with oil oil. Bake in oven at 180 degrees until firm (probably 8-10 min) , mash some tinned tomato (no juice) add a squirt of tomato puree and a bit of dried or fresh basil or mixed herbs, you can also do a pizza version with tomato puree and grated cheese with mixed herbs.

    3. Buy Parmesan cheese in Aldi, grate and then flatten a pile of the cheese into a round on a backing sheet, put in the oven until the sides start looking toasty, the cheese will flatten and you will have parmesan crisp 'biscuits' lift them off the baking tray with a pallette knife

    3. Aldi chocoate florentines, nicer than the M and S ones.

    4. Use those cheap silver or gold 'chargers' to serve your nibbles on (check out Matalan, they had them in red as well)
  • Marquis de Monisterol Vintage Cava in Co-op round here for 3.99 and it's very nice - I think I have also seen in another supermarket but can't remember (must have sampled the product too much!!).

Packet of filo pastry for 61p made into 'samosas' filled with mashed up black pudding!! Or soft goat's cheese and cranberry sauce. Bake for about 10 mins or until not burnt!!:rotfl:

Put it in a glass before you give it to people - i.e. dont let them see you pour it and they may not even ask what it is;)
