  • I pay BT nothing! All my telecoms are through Pipex. You cn get equivelant to 'Free' Line rental deals from some companies, i.e. you pay £19.99 a month for everything.

    Yes, but the point I was making is that you can't get adsl without a phone line. You can choose to have the rental from someone other than BT but you still need the phone line - you can't just do away with it.

    Can't make my mind up whether to go for one of these or one of the Netgear VOIP adapters at Staples :confused:

    If you already have a router, you can also get adaptors that plug into an ethernet port that allow you to use an analogue phone for VOIP.

    On ebay for less than £30, search for "voip ata" :).}

    Considering getting one myself.

    Can posters be clear as to which of these 'phones plug into a USB port and which are wireless connections via the modem/router that don't need the the PC to be 'on'?

    Thanks Kilty but the rocking horse droppings comment from RRB made my mind up. Now the proud owner of a Netgear VOIP adapter, cost £19.91 :D
    This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! :doh:

    Damn Tharweb you are lucky. :)

    I was considering buying one at £50 :eek: but I think I'll go for a cheap ATA adaptor instead since the Netgear is meant to be very difficult to set up behind an ADSL router.
