Cheap Footsie and 1month free trading costs at Hoodless Brennan

1 year forward p/es (relative 'cheapness' valuations) as at 30 Nov:

Japan Nikkei 40.52
US Nasdaq 29.18
US Dow Jones 15.54
India Nifty 18.13
Singapore 15.44
Hong Kong 14.88
Malaysia 16.67
Korea 14.2
UK FTSE 12.62 - stocks cheapest, relative.

Plus Hoodless Brennan are offering 1 month's trading free of trading fees.

If you buy the Ishares FTSE 100 (ISF.L ticker) you will exactly track the FTSE index.

Sell before the month is up if there is the usual Christmas rally.

Otherwise sit and hold.

*TRV edit: NB: Shares can fall as well as rise. I am no financial advisor, just a regular investor. I posted this for those interested in dipping their toes into the UK stock market looking for a reasonable and straight forward entry point and a cheap deal. There are many other factors to consider, as per Hank's comment below. Please do your own research.*

  • I reckon you're on thin ice...as what you're saying is verging on a "buy the FTSE - you can't lose" type post.

To give a bit of balance....the FTSE has had a four month rally, the so called xmas rally has already happened! We're entering a period of low volumes now & the FTSE's immediate short term fate now rests with the States (& the Dow is within 30 points of it's all time high - so not exactly a great time to enter).....as they say, if the USA sneezes, then the UK catches a cold....so be very careful at these price levels.
  • Fair comment Hank. To clarify I wasn't targetting the layman, but pointing out to anyone who is intereested in shares the twin attractions of (1) the cheapness of the FTSE and (2) the cheap Hoodless deal. I'm no financial advisor and anyone considering the two should do their own research. I just figured there's no reason why these things should be out of bounds to the money-saving shopping forum.
