oh dear, i see this online psycho analysis career you're trying to evolve on the internet forum is quite serious.bla bla bla lots of waffle and then...
My first encounter with him (which made me realise he was another chucky like character)
and then even more waffle bla bla bla
good luck with that.0 -
In that particular case, I'm sure I wasn't wrong, but would be only too happy to be shown if I was. RenovationMan came up with some very strange suggestions to back up his argument. The strangest was that a repayment mortgage, where you don't pay interest, is the same as an IO mortgage. I suggested that a repayment mortgage where you don't pay interest is not a repayment mortgage.
Maybe you'd like to discuss how you came to the conclusion that I was wrong (apart from the fact that I struggled to make him see his error).
He also argued that at any one time, the interest component of a repayment mortgage will be the same as the interest on an IO mortgage. Again, I tried to point out that it depends what payments have been made, and for how long for.
RenoMan seemed to take offence that I was trying to correct him on this, and that I should have just accepted what he was saying.
You were shown. You just chose to ignore it. Are you still writing your code for it?
That isn't what he claimed at all. He claimed an repayment mortgage without the capital repayments is an interest only mortgage.
I'm not getting into again. For one last time....
Everyone on the thread, not just the usual "bulls" agreed you didn't know what you were on about. I thought Locoblades excel spreadsheet had educated you about how mortgages work in the end, but obviously not.
You're just another run-of-the-mill internet hypocrite.0 -

good luck with that.
Thans for the encouragement.
I see you are still avoiding the point I made yesterday, despite me spelling it out for you.

He can't. He's busy re-reading the thread I posted.
Here's a summary for those who don't want to read the original 17 pages:
It's the one where he says he's happy to admit he's wrong if he's shown he is wrong.
He is shown he is wrong. He is given evidence he is wrong,
He "goes off to write some code" to prove he is right but can't quite manage it.
He finds a spreadsheet which seems to back up he is wrong.
He refuses to admit he is wrong.
He starts working on tangential arguments.
Presumably he is still "writing some code"0 -
i haven't read any of this except for a quick glance at the last few posts. my question is:
how the f**k can you get a repayment mortgage with no interest payments - coz i want one of those!!
the only way i can think of it being done is an offset with equal savings to the mortgage or a completely idiotic lender.0 -
" I suggested that a repayment mortgage where you don't pay interest is not a repayment mortgage."
what is it then? to me, it sounds like the ultimate repayment mortgage. no pesky interest taking a chunk out of the pure repayment.0 -

A point I made during that "discussion".
Fell on deaf ears though.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0
