Case closed but what happens if she changes her mind again?

Hi, wonder if anyone can tell me on here what would happen should these circumstances arise ??

Myself and ex wife have two children one has chosen to live with her and one with me, we had a private agreement in place re maintence but she changed her mind (thought she would get more) and went to the CSA. She has now changed her mind and I have a letter stating the case is closed but on the initial call I had from the CSA they stated maintenance was due from the first day of contact. Now should she change her mind yet again in a few months or years can they back date the money to that initial date or would it be to the date they contact me again? I am a little worried to accept the private agreement again and find myself with a massive bill and can not obtain proof of any money paid as it is the form of paying off debt which she ran up in my name.

Thanks for any help you can offer :)

if the case is closed - the parent with care would have to open a new application if she wished to pursue you for maintenance in the future. The effective date would be set from the date you are advised of the new case being opened - it wouldn't be backdated to the previous claim date

Thank you, common sense made me think this would be the case but from the little dealings I had in the last couple of weeks with the CSA I have to say I have little faith in them and what they should or should not do.

If you have one child living with you, and she has the other and tried to get maintenance from you, why can't you get same from her? Strange woman.

When I told her I would do just that she laughed at me and said I would never get a penny of her money !! Unfortunately when the CSA contacted her and announced she would have to pay the grand sum of £5 a week I don think she was so worried. Strange woman is not one of the names I use to describe her and I would melt the swear filter if I put them on here

I paid my daughters mum voluntarily and then through CSA for 13 years. When my daughter decided a year ago to live with me, the mum said there was no way she would pay my electricity bills, and has paid nothing.

She has told my daughter I should now give directly to my daughter the former CSA money I used to pay! (on top of other money I give)

If you get Child Benefit for your daughter then you could ask the CSA to pursue a case for maintenance from your ex.

As for the mad statements I assume she is not sufficiently able to comprehend that you are now feeding, clothing and generally providing for your daughter and spending probably more doing so than you paid in maintenance.

They really should provide a course in basic economics, anger management, common sense and putting children first during divorce as it could make life better for all concerned.

I think opinions should be judged of by their influences and effects, and if a man holds none that tend to make him less virtuous or more vicious, it may be concluded that he holds none that are dangerous; which I hope is the case with me.

Can I ask how you know a case is closed? My ex and I both had claims in with the CSA who contacted us both and said as we would both have to pay each other roughly the same amount we should just leave it.

I thought our cases were closed but he has now reinstated his claim and I owe arrears dating back to 2009. The original claims were in 2007.

I'd be grateful for any help.

I recieved a letter from the CSA stating the case was closed, I guess this is my only proof to stop any arrears arising.

Double check that the case is actually 'CLOSED' not 'CANCELLED' or any other terminology that they may use. I thought my case was closed for months, as that is what I requested, but it turned out that they had only put it on hold, not shut it down completely. However, from the letters they sent to me, this wasn't clear.
