Want to check history of rate changes at Mansfield BS?

Options
Hello. I'm considering taking out a 3yr discount mortgage with the Mansfield Building Society. I'd be interested to see how they amended their rates in response to base rate changes historically. e.g. when the base rate changes, how quick they were to pass that on to their customers, and also when the rate goes up by say 0.25%, did they raise their discount rate by this much, or by more than that.

Hope that makes sense. It would just give me a bit more peace of mind if I had some idea of how the rates had been handled previously. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the Mansfield BS, but I'm with the Yorkshire Building Society (YBS), and have been on BOE trackers for the last 4 years. I posted in another thread recently how pleased I'd been with the consistency of their approach to BOE rate changes.

Whether the BOE rates came down (as in 2003) or went up (as in 2004) the YBS applied the new rates within a few days (as confiirmed by my mortgage statements), even though their T & C's state they will do it by the 15th of the month following the month of BOE rate change.

Maybe another BS for you to consider?

Mansfield have some products that are not available via brokers, and Yoskshire BS do not usually pay brokers ( unless they use their other firm- Accord- different products)

Therefore if dealing with a broker on commission basis - you may find they are not included in research even if the broker claims to use "whole of market"

"No fees" can be good , but sometimes "free advice" is worth what you pay for it.

Yes after looking on the internet for myself, I went to L&C. Who were very good, very helpful and came up with a really good deal with A&L. Found the Mansfield one myself but L&C said it was direct only. Only thing swinging the Mansfield is that their exit admin fees are considerably lower (£75) than A&L (£300).

Think that's the one we're going for...
