New Job - Credit check while on a DMP

Hi Guys,
Got a problem, have been offered a new job. Problem is I need to give 4 weeks notice.
The new job wants to do a credit check, I don't really want them knowing about my DMP, I have defaulted accounts but don't have any CCJ's or any court things going on.
Problem is if I hand my 4 weeks notice in then if they do the credit check and if they reject me to work, but I have already handed my notice in, could leave me out of a job,
It’s an Equifax credit check, what do they search for and what will show up?
As it’s a good opportunity but if I hand my notice in, the job I am at will most likely not let me take it back. And if I don’t get the new job due to my credit check.
The new job is running a bar, I have my license which is fine, I have ran pubs for years, left 7 months ago for another job but want to return now to a different company but now worried about this credit check.
Any advice is helped, as I’m really worrying about it now.

Hi
Have you checked your credit rating/history on-line?
Have they sent you an offer letter?
If you are on a DMP you can't afford not to have a job.
I would be tempted to let them get on with it and only hand in your notice when its unconditional.

Hi D70,
Got offered the job yesterday and got the offer letter, contracts etc today, one of the forms to fill in is the credit check.
I'll check my credit rating online just now to see what it says.
I don;t want to say to the new company though can you let me know when the credit check has gone through then ill hand my notice in incase they think there is somehting funny going on.0 -
Hey,
Just checked credit score there, i am classed as Poor on experian.
Out of my 10 creditors, 7 have loged a default and the other 3 have classed it as satisfactory,
How much can the new job company see when doing a credit check?

Give them a ring and tell them the truth. If they have a problem with your defaults and CCJ's it's best to come clean before they find out anyway.0

Your employer will NOT see your private credit history data, including any defaults. They can only access public data such as court judgments and bankruptcies. Only lenders who share their own customer credit history records through the credit reference agencies can access other lenders' credit history data. The same applies to landlords (public data only).

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

Hi James, thanks for the information, i have no CCJ's or bankruptcies, just some defaults on my account, which i am paying off on my dmp, so hopefully all goes well, and if they do pick something up, hopefully they will ask me, as my refrences from previous jobs are all in order, so that would be the only stumbling block.
Thanks again.0 -

Hi Mr Jones (You in Notts per chance?)
Interesting response. Based on it, I have a few questions....
Can you confirm or deny that your agency will not give a indicative overall display of credit worthyness should someone apply for their experian records.
Also, should the employer not use Experian and use another credit reference agency, is your advice in your post still the same?
Finally, are you saying that employers who use Experian to vet employees can only see "court judgements" or other information in the public domain, and that experian won't use their knowledge of the full record to come up with a overall credit score?
Just interested thats all........
