BR and Looking for a Job

What are other members experiences of looking for work once they are discharged, is a credit check carried out for employment for other than the finance sector/civil service?

Have you met with any prejudice?

I just landed quite a good job and had to declare my BR - it wasn't a problem for the role I applied for and believe me they were very thorough on everything. Good luck!

most Civil Service jobs get a security check rather than a credit check....Local Authority jobs may be another matter...but unless the job is financially sensitive, BR should not matter
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

I've never told my employer (not that I feel it would be a problem). I did sweat a bit when we were being put forward as Authorised Intermediaries for the Insolvency Service! Still makes me grin slightly that I'm authorised by the Insolvency Service;):D

    - In case you were wondering, applying to be an AI is via the CAB but the application is to the IS. The IS do not ask if you have been previously BR. You cannot be undischarged at the time you apply and you can NEVER be an AI if you had a BRU / BRO of any length.

I have just applied for a job as a shop assistant and the company (a large chain) will be doing a credit check!

I called and spoke to the HR lady and she said the BR won't be a problem at all, as such, it is for them to check that the people they are employing haven't ever committed any fraud as we would be dealing with peoples credit cards.

She will get 2 references for me though, but as the last 2 jobs I have had have been dealing with credit cards etc there shouldn't be a problem.

I have just secured a job with a Local Authority. The position does entail processing payments and dealing with sensitive information however, apart from the usual references, medical clearance, id checks etc they do not credit check. :)
