Transfer Pension???

I hope someone can give me some advice..... I have a pension with BT which I stopped contributing to in 1999. I have received figures recently from BT pensions, stating that I had made 17 years in contributions. I am currently in a Railways pension (rpmi) and they have advised me that if I transferred my BT pension into their scheme, it would 'buy' me 19 years in this scheme. My question is, would I benefit from transferring the pension across or leaving it as it is?

We cant say. It requires a transfer analysis to be done and a look at the pros and cons of each. Its not a case that can clearly show one as being better than the other without knowing the facts.

Yeah, I guess I need to sit with an IFA to determine any and all benefits. Thanks

well maybe not - in the first instance get a forecast from each pension provider - you may not need to see an ifa - if you do see an ifa remember to count your fingers afterwards if he/she shakes your hand,
