New Tax Allowances from April 2011 ?

in Cutting tax
I am semi-retired and in receipt of a Pension but have a Part-Time Job. My Annual Salary for both is £ 21,179.28 (Net of Tax)
After checking a Pay Slip for 18th May 2011, I notice that I am still paying the same amount of Income Tax as prior to April 2011 but my Pension has gone up a whole £16.00. After checking with my Pension Administrators, I have found that my Tax Code has gone up from 647L to 747L.
My query is this. Surely if Basic Tax Payers are being allowed to ear an extra £1,000 before paying Tax, I should be looking at considerably more than £16.00 ? I have tried to contact H.M. Revenue & Taxes without success and was held in a queue for 20 mins without answering.

£1000 pounds p.a. extra tax allowance at 20% tax equates to £200 extra in your net pay p.a.
£200 p.a is £16.66 per month. You are receiving the correct amount.
I am assuming your part time earnings are taxed at BR and your Tax free allowance is used against your pension income.0 -
Many thanks. That would explain the figure it's increased by. Not brilliant but better in my Pocket.0
