How do you use Honey?
Comments
-
straight from the jar - yumGreat with Greek yoghurt on a crumble as a low fat alternative to cream. Tend to buy honey from rain forests in the forlorn hope it will stop them being chopped down for soya for cheap chicken. It's only rock and roll but I like it.0

Don't forget its antibacterial qualities - making a resurgence as a wound dressing.
Although when I was in the chinese restaurant the other day and got stung by a wasp on my head, and the waitress ran over and smeared honey all over my forehead, I did feel she might as well stick a "come and get me" sign on me for the benefit of the rest of the wasps.
Edit - if there's not too huge a price differential I prefer to buy local honey. It makes me feel I'm doing my bit for the local flora and fauna. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
with lemon in waterWhen I have a cold or sore throat, I make a warm fruit drink, either a fruity tea bag or squashed made up, then stir in a spoonful of honey.0

I use honey as a sweetener in hot milk at bedtime.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.0 -
none of the aboveIn cooking only ~ in cakes, rib sauce, sweet and sour etc.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
straight from the jar - yumHi
Don't know how long it would take to get to that stage but on a holiday to turkey one woman used to take whole frames out of the hive (like wooden window frames held together with wires in the middle and full of honeycomb) then cut the honey comb itself, off the wires into long strips. Really sticky work when we did it together but the stuff sells for loads at delis and specialist food shops. Sorry if that sounds a bit vague it might make sense when you get started! Good luck

none of the aboveI only use it in cooking too - especially in marinades. I hate the taste of it on it's own! Much prefer Golden Syrup in my porridge!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I use it on my porridge with jarred rasps or blueberries or dried dates and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
I baste roasting veg in it.
I mix it with oats to make a face mask that is good for dry skin.
If I`ve got a small cut, I put honey on it, speeds healing and stops itching. And I mix it with lemon juice, hot water and a splash of whisky for a cold or flu."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"

having said that that does mean i don't use alot.so a really small jar lasts me years.0 -
on toastI like using it in a lamb tagine recipe, with almonds, I'd like to try it as rib sauce as mentioned.... yummmm. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
